The best period for spotting the shoebill is from  May to July . The best way to find this remarkable bird is to book an organised expedition with local guides. As the shoebill’s exact location changes considerably depending on the season and water levels, the guides adjust the route daily. Depending on where the birds are at that moment, a search can range from a few hours to a full-evening or full-day expedition by boat and on foot through the swamps.
