The mild spring and autumn months ( March to May  and  September to November ) are fantastic for active hikers. Bear in mind that during the South African summer months ( December to February ) it can become extremely hot, with temperatures regularly exceeding 40 degrees. During this period, we recommend avoiding strenuous, intensive hikes during the day and escaping the heat by combining your visit with the refreshing West Coast.

The high-altitude  Cederberg Private Cellar  produces fantastic Shiraz and Chardonnay wines that you absolutely must try. When planning your route, do bear the tasting room’s opening hours in mind. The winery is generally open from  Monday to Saturday , but is  closed on Sundays and public holidays .

Alongside legendary hikes and tastings, the Cederberg offers unique experiences. You can admire ancient San (Bushmen) rock paintings, stargaze beneath one of the darkest skies in the country, or visit a local rooibos plantation. A very exclusive opportunity is also available to a select number of travellers: a private flight in a small  Cessna aircraft  over the impressive mountain range. This breathtaking flight is arranged privately through a local plantation owner and is therefore always strictly subject to the availability of the owner and pilot.
