The mild spring and autumn months ( March to May  and  September to November ) are fantastic for keen hikers. Bear in mind that temperatures can become extremely high during the South African summer months ( December to February ), regularly exceeding 40 degrees. During this period, we recommend avoiding strenuous, intensive hikes during the day and escaping the heat by combining your visit with the cool West Coast.

The high-altitude  Cederberg Private Cellar  produces fantastic Shiraz and Chardonnay wines that you absolutely must try. When planning your route, be sure to take the tasting room’s opening hours into account. The winery is generally open from  Monday to Saturday , but is  closed on Sundays and public holidays .

In addition to legendary hikes and tastings, the Cederberg offers unique experiences. You can admire ancient San (Bushman) rock paintings, stargaze beneath one of the darkest skies in the country, or visit a local rooibos plantation. A very select number of travellers also have the opportunity to take a private flight in a small  Cessna aircraft  over the impressive mountain range. This breathtaking flight is arranged privately through a local plantation owner and is therefore always strictly dependent on the owner’s and pilot’s availability.
