The iconic sandstone cliffs (Chilojo Cliffs) in Gonarezhou National Park are unforgettable, especially at sunset. Watching the light fade across the gigantic rock face while elephants move through the landscape is one of those classic African safari moments you will never forget.

You can reach the park in several ways. If you are travelling from South Africa, you can enter Gonarezhou via the Pafuri border post in the north of Kruger National Park, or via the larger Beitbridge border post. From Beitbridge, it is advisable to book a night's accommodation outside the park first, as this border crossing can take longer. Bryca River Lodge is a good option. From this overnight stop, you can drive through the park from south to north via Gonarezhou's southern entrance. This route perfectly showcases just how diverse the park really is, although for us, the northern section stood out the most. Swamps, spectacular rock formations and endless viewpoints for sunrises and sunsets make this part extraordinarily magical.

The exclusive bush camps in the park are often fully booked years in advance, and as soon as you arrive, you immediately understand why. They are completely unfenced, solitary places in the heart of the wilderness, face to face with nature.
