In most private reserves, you cannot drive independently. Game drives mainly take place with a guide. However, there are some excellent camping options for travellers with their own vehicle, for example at Limpopo River Lodge and Longwope Farmhouse.

Is a guided game drive in Tuli worthwhile?

Absolutely. Precisely because you are not allowed to drive through most reserves yourself, having a guide gives you a very different experience. The guides know the area and often know exactly where the animals are. You also learn a great deal about the landscape and wildlife.

How long do you recommend staying in the Tuli Block?

For most travellers,  one or two nights  is sufficient. One night makes a good stopover; with two nights, you have more time for game drives and to truly experience the area.

Which animals can I expect to see in the Tuli Block?

Among other things, you can  elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, zebras and various antelope species encounter. With a bit of luck, you may also see  wild dogs and brown hyenas . The area is also known for the successful reintroduction of rhinos.

No, quite the opposite. As you are only allowed to drive with a guide in most reserves, relatively few vehicles are out at the same time. We believe this creates a  peaceful and enjoyable safari experience .

Tuli is interesting both for travellers taking a self-drive trip and wanting to camp, and for those looking for a comfortable, fully catered safari. With beautiful private lodges and small-scale accommodation, you can enjoy a luxurious safari experience here and have wonderful wildlife sightings in peace and quiet. For self-drivers, it is a beautiful and peaceful start or end to a trip through Botswana, with a number of spacious campsites. Bear in mind that there are few opportunities to go on game drives independently. Even if you are camping, we therefore recommend arranging a game drive with a lodge.
