How much time do you need for the Caprivi?

The Caprivi is approximately 450 kilometres long and is primarily an area to travel through at a leisurely pace. For a first introduction, we recommend at least three nights . If you have more time, you can combine several nature areas without having to drive long distances every day.

Which country is most suitable for a first safari?

That depends entirely on what you’re looking for. Botswana is ideal if you enjoy adventure, self-drive and a pure safari experience in the heart of nature. South Africa combines excellent wildlife parks with wine, gastronomy, coastlines and comfortable accommodation. Zimbabwe offers wonderful safaris with relatively few visitors and an authentic atmosphere. Zambia is perfect for those looking for small-scale safaris, walking safaris and unspoilt nature. Namibia is more about impressive landscapes, with Etosha, the desert elephants and the Caprivi giving you that safari feeling. Is Liuwa suitable for a self-drive?

Yes, but only if you have experience with a 4x4. A large part of the route to Liuwa consists of deep sand. Knowing how to adjust your tyre pressure, maintain momentum and handle soft sand is essential. Without experience, the drive can be quite challenging.

Is it feasible to drive from Silwane to Robins Camp in one day?

Yes, it is possible, but it is a long and intensive safari day . As you drive right across the park via unpaved roads, sandy tracks and bumpy trails, stopping regularly for wildlife as well, your average speed is very low. Depart at sunrise and make sure you have enough food and drinking water in the car. Make a lovely day of it with breakfast at Ngweshla and lunch at Massuma Dam.
