Can you swim in Lake Malawi?

Yes, you can absolutely enjoy a wonderful swim in Lake Malawi! With one simple precaution, you can enjoy the crystal-clear water carefree.  As there is a risk of bilharzia in the lake, it is advisable to take a preventive tablet after your trip. This tablet is readily available from any pharmacy in Malawi. Consult your doctor beforehand about your specific situation if you feel this is necessary.

What is the difference between the Nsefu Sector and the Mfuwe Sector in South Luangwa?

The  Nsefu Sector  is smaller in scale and quieter. You encounter considerably fewer safari vehicles here and get the feeling that you have nature almost entirely to yourself. The  Mfuwe Sector  is the best-known part of the park. Here you will find more accommodation, more safaris and therefore also more vehicles. In both parts of the park, wildlife density is high and you have excellent chances of seeing predators. In our view, both areas complement each other perfectly.

Why is South Luangwa known as the Home of the Leopard?

South Luangwa has one of the highest densities of leopards in Africa. During a safari, you therefore look not only ahead, but also constantly upwards. Leopards spend much of the day resting in trees or concealed along the riverbanks. One of the park's best-known residents is  Leopard Lucy , who is known among guides and photographers for her relaxed nature.

What makes Lower Zambezi so special?

For us, it is above all the sense of space.  Lower Zambezi has the same magical atmosphere that we also experience in Mana Pools: vast, peaceful and dotted with photogenic acacia trees.  Large herds of elephants move along the Zambezi River, while the ancient acacia trees create a landscape that constantly changes with the light. You can also spot prey species here; around the airstrip, wide-open plains offer far-reaching views.
